Apple have opened their newest store in Dubai. The Apple Dubai Mall opened on April 27, and features a 186-foot curved storefront and balcony overlooking Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.
The new store has been designed as a new community space, and will host Apple’s new in-store experience “Today at Apple”. It will also be a great place to watch the evening’s fountain shows.
Design group Foster + Partners worked with Apple to design eighteen 37.5-foot-high motorized “Solar Wings” in response to the environment in the Middle East. The Solar Wings keep the store cool during the day, and in the evenings they open up the store to the public terrace. Each “Solar Wing” is locally fabricated from 340 carbon fiber reinforced polymer rods.
New Creative Pros, which are the equivalent to Apple’s technical Geniuses, will teach “Today at Apple” sessions, aimed to help customers and individuals hone their entrepreneurial skills. The Dubai Mall Apple store will have 148 employees who can collectively speak 45 languages, aiming to provide assistance to visitors from across the globe.
